God has a specific plan for your life—do you know that? Maybe deep down in your heart you know God has a specific plan for you. But do you know what that specific plan is?
People back in history and in our time, from all over the world, of different ages, rich and poor, educated and uneducated asked themselves what is the purpose of their living and if God has a plan for them—if they are meant for something bigger than themselves.
Even if it is not the purpose of my post to answer all these questions, I want to help you believe that God has a specific plan for you.
God has a specific plan for you as He had for Yeshua
Recently quite a few people asked me to pray for them to know God’s plan for their life. I know many people live without a purpose in life—they just live. However, they don’t know why they live or if their life matters in God’s plan and kingdom. The easy questions of life…right?
How do I know God has a specific plan for you and for me? I know that because the Bible points out that God had a specific plan for many other ordinary and imperfect people like me and you. God had a plan for Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Joshua. And for Samson, David, Daniel, Nehemiah, Ezra, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Habakkuk (the list is too big). Moreover, God had a plan for people like John the Baptist, the twelve disciples, the Apostle Paul or Phoebe. Most importantly—God had a plan for Yeshua, our older brother!
In 1 Peter 1:20 (TLV) we read
He was chosen before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.
Hebrews 4:3 (TLV)
For we who have trusted are entering into that rest. It is just as God has said, “So in My wrath I swore, ‘They shall never enter My rest,’” even though His works were finished since the foundation of the world.
God remains the same
I want to suggest that in the same way God had a specific calling for the people in the Old and the New Testament; He continues to have a calling for His children today. I know this because Yeshua does not change—He remains the same, yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). And if Yeshua does not change, that means the Father and the Holy Spirit do not change—God remains the same. God is a Rock of ages (Isaiah 26:4)—ages may pass away, but the Rock remains in the same place.
I know God chose us and called us to be His children and live a pure life (Ephesians 1:4-6)—that’s a great calling. And God did that before the foundation of the world. Moreover, God chose us in the same way God chose Yeshua to send Him on earth in human flesh. If Yeshua came on earth because God had a plan for Him don’t you believe God has a plan for you too? I believe in any and every area of our life we need to look at Yeshua and His life as a model for us to follow (Hebrews 12:2).
Yeshua walked in total submission to the Father—so we have to imitate His example. Yeshua walked on the way of the cross—so should we. And I can continue showing you a long list of the ways and things we need to pray and ask God’s help in imitating Yeshua. However, my list would not be complete if I would not mention Yeshua’s calling. I hope nobody thinks I refer now that we can die on a cross for the sins of humanity—I do not refer to this aspect or aspects similar with this one.
God has a specific plan for you—He does not make mistakes
In Galatians 4:4 (TLV) we read
But when the fullness of time came, God sent out His Son, born of a woman and born under law
The idea behind the phrase the fulness of time is when the time was right—at the perfect time, not a day or a second earlier or later. Yeshua came at just the right time in God’s redemptive plan. Yeshua was born in the right family, in the right country, at the perfect time in history for Him to fulfill God’s plan.
Let me tell you something—God does not make mistakes. God has a specific plan for you as He had for Yeshua. God’s plan for you differs from the one Yeshua had but it does not mean God’s plan for you it’s not important. For you to fulfill God’s plan you had to be born in the family you were born, in the country you were born and in the year, day and hour you have been born. Everything in God’s plan is perfectly designed—there are no errors or mistakes! God is perfect in all His ways! God has a specific plan for you to fulfill.
Now what?
Your faith level might just rise a little after reading my post. Maybe you believe that God has a plan for your life. But probably you ask yourself what can you do to find His specific plan—that’s an excellent question. For now, I want to suggest two things you can do.
First, thank God for whom He created you to be. And give Him thanks for the plan He has for you. Just spend time in worship and praise the Lord for His wisdom. Second, pray Jeremiah 10:23 (TLV)
I know, Adonai, that a man’s way is not his own, nor does man, as he walks, direct his steps.
Maybe you don’t know how to end up knowing God’s plan for you. That’s fine—pray Jeremiah 10:23 (a prayer that I often pray) and just open your heart to God in sincerity telling Him you don’t know how to reach your purpose in life and His plan. Tell God that you don’t want to live a meaningless life but a life of purpose and in His plan. Tell God that you want to hear His voice telling you well done good and faithful servant (Matt 25:21).
But also tell Him: God I know you have a plan for me—please, direct my steps. I don’t know how to be in the center of Your will and plan, but You God know how can I get there. Please, Holy Spirit, guide me and teach me—show me the next step.
Next, just surrender your life to Yeshua and thank Him for guiding you. Expect He will guide your steps. Because God has a plan for you and He wants you to know that plan, accept it and walk in it!
