God is calling you to Himself. How will you answer? What will you do about it?
I sensed God’s calling
As I said before on my blog I am blessed to be born into a family of believers. I remember as I grew up my parents teaching me about Jesus and His love for the world. Going to Sunday School classes I remember learning the importance of giving my life and heart to Jesus. Precious lessons!
And growing up in our Congregation I also learned that God has a specific calling for me. I was told that before I would know God’s specific calling and purpose for my life first I would need to come into a personal relationship with God, by faith and through Jesus. That is the starting point—at the cross of Jesus in surrendering our life to Him.
I will not go in more details as I already wrote my testimony—if you want, you can read it here. If you are a believer in God through His Son Jesus/Yeshua then you know what I mean. As Blaise Pascal said
There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus.
And this is true because the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:11 (TLV)
[God] has made everything beautiful in its time. Moreover, He has set eternity in their heart—yet without the possibility that humankind can ever discover the work that God has done from the beginning to the end.
God is calling you
I understand why people try relentlessly to fill the empty space in their hearts with money, sex, pornography, yoga, different religions, or wanting to be known and famous, etc.—I was there. The reality is that the God-shaped vacuum in the heart can be filled only by Yeshua. Nothing else works!
By creating that God-shaped vacuum in our inner man God wants to get our attention. It is God’s way of telling everybody that He wants a relationship with us. God is calling you!
In the words of A. W. Tozer
Deep calleth unto deep, and though polluted and landlocked by the mighty disaster theologians call the Fall, the soul senses its origin and longs to return to its Source.
In 1 Timothy 2:4 (TLV) we read about the general call to every human being
He desires all men to be saved and come into the knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:4 is in the context of prayer. Nevertheless, it is clear from it that God’s desire for ALL men is to be saved.
Ezekiel 33:11 (TLV)
Say to them: ‘As I live’—it is a declaration of Adonai—‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Return, return from your evil ways. Why will you die, O house of Israel?’
God is calling you to the cross
I know God has a plan for your life as He has for me. However, if you want to know His specific plan for your life you need first to put your life in His will—that is put your trust in God’s Son, in Yeshua.
I don’t know what you believe about yourself and about the redemption of your eternal soul but if you put your trust in anything else than Jesus you build your house/life on sand (Matthew 7:24-27).
I pray that one day you can say as the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:8-9 (TLV)
More than that, I consider all things to be loss in comparison to the surpassing value of the knowledge of Messiah Yeshua my Lord. Because of Him I have suffered the loss of all things; and I consider them garbage in order that I might gain Messiah and be found in Him not having my righteousness derived from Torah, but one that is through trusting in Messiah—the righteousness from God based on trust.
God is calling you—Jew or Gentile
There is a growing theology among believers in our days claiming that Jews don’t need Yeshua to be saved. These people try to prove from the Bible that the Jewish people in order to be saved do not need to put their trust in the sacrifice of Yeshua/Jesus. Needless to say, this is false doctrine.
One day Yeshua had a conversation with the Chief Rabbi of Israel—with Nicodemus. And Yeshua told him (John 3:3, TLV)
Yeshua answered him, “Amen, amen I tell you, unless one is born from above [born again], he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Nicodemus was a Jew and Yeshua made it clear that he needs to be born again. Moreover, in John 14:6 (TLV) while talking with a group of Jewish men—His disciples, Yeshua said
Yeshua said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life! No one comes to the Father except through Me.
It is not complicate—no one means no one: not even the Jews or the Gentiles.
Now what?
God is calling you to Himself through His Son Yeshua/Jesus. Maybe you tried over the years to know God through other ways but the Way—Yeshua. Maybe you even tried to fill the God-shaped vacuum in your heart with all kind of books, religions, education, influential friends, pleasures of the world or even with good deeds.
If you did that I am sure you came to the conclusion that nothing can satisfy the quench of your soul. Why not come to Yeshua? He is the only One who can satisfy your soul and fill the God-shaped vacuum of your heart. And He is the only One who can give you a purpose for your life.
I would like to recommend you a video by Pastor Charles Stanley—you can watch it here. Make time for your soul.
If you choose to stay in the Presence of God in this world God will respect your decision and you will also be in His Presence after you die. However, if you choose to stay away from God in this world then He will respect your decision and you will be in a place away from His Presence after you die. God is not trowing you in hell or heaven—you decide.
Choose life—choose Yeshua and His Word. It is the wisest decision you can make. And only after you enter in a personal relationship with Yeshua you can start experiencing purpose in life.
Do you agree?
