I want to share a few words about God’s forgiveness.
God’s forgiveness— a true story
I remember when I was in England once and was ministering to a woman together with another man and woman. And the woman who came to us for prayer was blind and had someone to assist her. In the beginning when we asked her what can we pray for her she did not say much. However, she came back for the second time and then she shared what was really on her heart. It was a sin she carried for over twenty years— the same time when she started to lose her eye sight.
She never confessed it to another person [make sure you read this post too]. And because of that the devil attacked her mind with condemnation and accusations all the time. But that specific day was the day the Lord has made for her to be free! She took courage, confessed her sin, repented of it and forsake it. And for the first time in her life she felt in the light and was no more hiding. Moreover, for the first time she felt clean and forgiven by God. Next morning she came to the service with her eyesight restored almost 100%! All glory to God!
Money cannot buy God’s forgiveness
There is great healing in knowing you are forgiven by God for your sin. Whoever was trapped in pornography or any other type of bondage can tell you how precious God’s forgiveness is. But money cannot buy God’s forgiveness only the blood of Jesus can pay for our sin.
Whenever man sins something is lost— our fellowship with God, with the people around us, even our health, etc. But every time man sins against God, God provides a way through which his relationship with Him can be restored.
God desires to forgive more than to punish. However, as I said in my previous posts, there is no forgiveness without repentance.
Do you doubt God’s forgiveness?
Do you realise the God of the Universe wants to have a relationship with you? Indeed, you might say: But you don’t know what I did and how much I did sin. And that is true. Nevertheless, whatever you did fades comparing to what Adam and Eve did because their sin brought the whole earth under the curse (Genesis 3:17). But after all Adam and Eve did God still cared about them and made a way for their sin to be atoned. In other words, after men turned their back to God, He made a way for them to come back to Him— through Jesus Christ, His Son.
Many people doubt God’s forgiveness and they try to somehow pay for their sins in different ways. Some believe they can pay for their sins by making many good deeds, while others by giving money to charity. They create their own systems of forgiveness— systems that underestimate their sin and overestimate their capacity to fix their problem. Needless to say that nothing can pay for your sin and mine but the blood of Jesus!
Only God can truly understand sin and what it can do. And if you insist to look for forgiveness in any other way or to any other person but to Jesus, then the consequences for your life will be disastrous.
God’s forgiveness is about God’s grace
Many people, because of their pride, cannot accept that God’s forgiveness is about accepting His grace. And when we talk about God’s forgiveness none of us can boast! Romans 5:18-19 (ESV)
Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
Colossians 2:13-14 (ESV)
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
Therefore, forgiveness is the canceling of the record of our debt, at the cross of Jesus! And anyone who believes in Jesus for his salvation is forgiven. Anyone who by faith accepts God’s grace is saved!
Now what?
I want to encourage you to put your trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins. He is the blameless Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world. And if you put your trust in Jesus I can tell you based on the Word of God, that you are 100% forgiven no matter how much you sinned or no matter how heavy your sins are. Do not trust in your strength or wisdom for the forgiveness of your sins but trust in the perfect work of God’s forgiveness.
Maybe you think it is too late for you or that what I told you is too good to be true. Be aware that these are the lies of the enemy trying to stop you from crying out to God for His forgiveness. God loves you and made a way for you to enter into a relationship with Him. Choose today to be free from the guilt of your sin!
Make a decision to start with God no matter how deep you are in sin or no matter how messed up your life is right now. He can make something beautiful out of your mess! Indeed, He is the only One who can do something about it. God’s forgiveness is for people like me and you who messed up our lives but when we return to Him in repentance, He accepts us, loves us, and restores us.
